Rajeswari Sainath - the name signifies rigour, scholarship, classic purity and a mastery of rhythm that is breathtaking in its sublimity. For Rajeswari, dance signifies simple worship, spiritual practice, divine experience, dedication and discipline.

A leading Bharatanatyam dancer, Rajeswari Sainath is a disciple of Smt. Indira Rajan. She underwent advanced training under Mridangam Maestro Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani in the nuances and intricacies of Laya. Casual and unassumingly modest in her demeanour, Rajeswari on the stage gets transformed into a flaming spirit that reaches out to each and every person in the audience, drawing them to heights of ecstasy. Watching a performance of Rajeswari is a spiritual and aesthetic feast that lingers in the hearts of the viewers long after the dance is done.

The late BRC, the most scholarly critic of music and dance in our times said of her, "Rajeswari is an artist who has an inborn astuteness and unique skill of innovating choreography at the spur of the moment when she judges the mood of her audience. Difficulty seems to stimulate her."

Her strong mathematics and grammatical techniques in Laya combined with slow and subtle abhinaya resulted in rare thematic presentation in unusual rhythm patterns which have not been earlier attempted in Bharatanatyam.

She has expanded her horizons to include fusion works by collaborating with Jazz, classical artistes from the West, including the Australian Art Orchestra. She has also conducted several Seminars and Lecture demonstrations in India and abroad. Currently, she is also a Director of Sruthilaya Kendra Natarajaalaya (SLKN), the Centre for Performing Arts, founded by Mridangam Maestro Guru Karaikkudi Mani.

Rajeswari is a graduate in Commerce & Law & a Post graduate in management studies. With her many rare blend of virtues, she has enthralled audiences all over the world. In recognition of her contribution to dance- as a dancer, teacher, choreographer and scholar, many well known institutions across the world have conferred her with prestigious awards.
